Speaking of new songs, I've been listening to the Stereogum Independence Day Party Mixtape obsessively lately. All day, everyday. My friends have started complaining because unless I'm playing Bat for Lashes, I'm playing this mixtape. Tune-Yards, The Very Best, Micachu & the Shapes, what could be better?
Summer in Ithaca means lots of wonderful things, like iced coffee, shorts, swimming at night, thunderstorms, and Grassroots. This year, Grassroots was particularly excellent. I borrowed my brother's truck and therefore didn't have to sleep in a tent, which kicked ass. I brought a mattress and battery powered twinkle-lights from Ikea, so it was a lovely little get-away from the craziness of 24 hours of straight partying. Caleb was by far the most styling of us on Saturday, when he spilled BBQ sauce on his only pair of shorts and had to borrow my shiny green prizels. Hattie, as always, looked super cute in a Forever 21 peasant frocklet. Behold:

In less than a week, Hattie and Talullah and Lourdes, Jr. and I are road-tripping it to my new home in New Orleans, which I am super excited for. Hot hot days and muggy nights and so much sun! I can hardly wait.
